Welcome to TeenTober 2020!

 

TeenTober is an annual, nationwide event created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (part of the American Library Association) that celebrates teens in libraries! During the month of October at the Mildred Whipple Library, participate in teen-centered activities and give feedback on how to improve library services for teens.

Since programming looks a little different this year with the library closed to patrons, all TeenTober events are available throughout the month of October.

The Young Adult Library Services Association's Teens' Top 10 is a teen-nominated book list where teens across the U.S. vote on their favorite books of the previous year.

 

Readers ages 12 to 18 are eligible for voting; voting is open online until October 15.

#3 - Teen Area Remodel Survey

 

The Mildred Whipple Library is redesigning the Teen Area! Started during Summer 2019, this project took a break this year due to COVID-19 library closures. Now, we'd like to complete some of our remodel work while the library is closed to patrons. *You may fill out this survey as many times as you like!*

How to earn tickets:

  • Earn 2 tickets each day you visit curbside service

  • Earn 2 tickets for every YA book you read

  • Earn 5 tickets for each YA book review you submit

  • Earn 5 tickets for each program you participate in (Reading Road Trip, etc.)

  • Earn 10 tickets for each survey you fill out

Winner will be announced the first week of November.

Join the Teen Advisory Board (TAB)!

 

TAB is a free leadership development program for local middle and high school-aged youth interested in becoming more involved in their library and community. TAB members participate in and influence the functioning of the Mildred Whipple Library, especially in relation to teen programing and teen collection development. 

 

The TAB program is a forum to have your opinions and suggestions heard while you learn job skills and earn volunteer hours. Any students in grades 6th-12th in the North Douglas Library District are welcome to join the TAB.
