How Do I Win Prizes?

All ages can earn prize tickets over the course of the summer by filling in their reading sheet and participating in programs. Tickets earned each week go towards the weekly prize drawing, and all tickets earned over the summer are entered into the grand prize drawing for each age group.

Programs: Earn a prize ticket for each weekly program you attend.

Reading Sheets: Keep track of the minutes you read and try to fill in as many spaces as you can. Teens and adults also have the option to track number of squares completed on their reading sheet (in addition to reading minutes). Show your reading sheet to the Mildred Whipple Library to earn tickets each week.

How to earn tickets:

  • Earn 1 ticket for each weekly summer reading program you attend.

  • Earn 1 ticket for every book recommendation you share (tag the library on social media, send us an email, or tell a staff member).

  • Earn 1 ticket for every reading sheet square you finish.

  • Earn 5 tickets for every member of your household when you turn in a completed reading sheet.

How to earn tickets for teens and adults (in addition to the above tickets):

  • Earn 1 ticket for each square you complete on your reading adventure sheet.

  • Earn 10 tickets for completing your reading adventure sheet.

Submitting Your Summer Reading Material

Each week during summer reading we encourage all participants to submit their weekly minutes read or reading sheet progress. Call us, email us, or drop by during library open hours and let us know

how much you've read that week!

Each week you submit your reading minutes you are entered into the weekly prize draw.

Whether you have managed to read one book or 25, and whether you have read 10 minutes or over 20 hours, we encourage all summer reading participants to turn in their summer reading material. If you cannot submit your reading sheet or reading minutes during library open hours write your name on your reading log and email us a picture to info@ndld.org or place your card in the library book drop.

Summer Reading Prizes

How Do I Play?

Programs: Each week during summer reading the library offers both in-person and at-your-own-pace programs for all ages. All programs are free to attend and include chances to win weekly prizes. Check our Summer Reading Events for specific program dates and times. Please note: while almost all of our programing is available to patrons of any age, some programs have age restrictions.

Reading Sheets: If you are participating in the children's programs (birth through Pre-K and Kindergarten through 5th grade), track the approximate amount of time you read during the summer. Each circle on your reading log counts for 15 minutes. If you are participating in our teen or adult program, you may choose to track the number of minutes you read and/or the number of squares you complete on your Reading Adventure sheet. Reading sheets are available in each summer reading sign up bag. If you need an additional sheet, download a copy below or ask during your next library visit.
